LASER PRINTER ENVELOPE UTILITY
DESTINATION ADDRESS: Who the envelope is addressed to.
RETURN ADDRESS: Who the envelope is from.
PRINT ENVELOPE(s): Select this option to print envelopes
from the screen, or obtain it's destination addresses
from a DATABASE FILE which YOU have created EARLIER.
DATABASE: Allows you to manipulate your database *.DB files.
ENVELOPE SIZE: Enables you to select from many common sizes
of envelopes, or create your own CUSTOM envelope size.
SELECT TRAY: Allows you to Feed Envelopes by hand or
let the Laser Printer feed the envelopes automatically.
NUMBER OF COPIES: Set this quantity to the number of copies
of EACH ENVELOPE you want to obtain.
FONT SELECTION: You can choose different Download Fonts.
Copy your desired *.SFL 14-16pt fonts to this directory
for LPE to use them on envelopes.
PRINTER PORT: Select LPT1, LPT2, LPT3.
PRINTER TYPE: Select RIGHT or CENTER or LEFT until your
envelope looks correct. ( If your printer's not listed )
CHANGE COLORS: Lets you change your default screen colors.
The program remembers the new colors each time it runs.

ENTER RETURN OR DESTINATION ADDRESSES.
You can ENTER up to SIX lines for this address.
To ACCEPT this line AS IS, press [ENTER] key.
To ERASE the line press [ESCape] key.
[CNTRL+LEFT / RIGHT] arrows move 1 word left/right.
[HOME] and [END] keys move to line start/end.
The program will save and load these addresses
for you each time you run the program.

Print Envelopes.
Print using Screen: Select this option to print
one or more of the same kind of envelope to the
printer. The return and destination addresses
will be the same those which appear on your screen
now.
Print using DATABASE FILE: Select this option
to print any number of different envelopes. The
Return Address will always be the one on your screen.
The computer will use the DATABASE FILE '*.DB' which
is currently selected, to retrieve the addresses
to print on the envelopes.
This option is useful for addressing an entire
mailing list to several people.
EXAMPLE of a Mailing List DATABASE FILE's contents:

SELECT ENVELOPE SIZE
Select from the list of pre-set common envelope
sizes, or create your own CUSTOM envelope size.
The first number in SETTINGS is the height of the envelope.
The second number in SETTINGS the width of the envelope.

Enter CUSTOM Envelope Size
FOUR different menu screens here will prompt you
for your CUSTOM envelope size.
1 - Height of envelope in INCHES ( no fraction )
2 - Fractional part of Height.
3 - Width of envelope in INCHES ( no fraction )
4 - Fractional part of Width.

SELECT LASER PRINTER TRAY
AUTO FEED: Not recommended unless you are using
an envelope feeder tray which was purchased
especially for your printer. This will Feed
envelopes automatically from the paper tray.
MANUAL_FEED: Preferred. Printer WAITS until you
insert an envelope into the printer by hand
before it begins to print that envelope.
MANUAL_ENVELOPE_FEED: You must have purchased an
envelope feeder tray seperately from your
printer manufacturer to use this setting.

SELECT YOUR PRINTER PORT
LPT1 = Printer is connected to Port # 1.
This is the normal default for most IBM computers.
If you are in doubt, use this choice.
LPT2 = Printer is connected to Port # 2.
LPT3 = Printer is connected to Port # 3.

SELECT YOUR LASER PRINTER TYPE
If your printer is not listed, select:
CENTER = Printer feeds envelopes `center justified'.
RIGHT = Printer feeds envelopes `right justified'.
LEFT = Printer feeds envelopes `left justified'.
Experiment to find your correct setting.

DATABASE OPERATIONS
ADD: Add current Destination Address to Database file.
GET: Retrieve a Destination Address from the currently
selected DATABASE file.
CHANGE: Select a DIFFERENT DATABASE file as active.
CREATE: Start a NEW DATABASE file. You will enter a name
(MAXIMUM 8 CHARS). The program will add `.DB' to
the name you enter. Database files match *.DB names.
FORCE DATE: Addresses are added to the END of the
DATABASE file.
FORCE ALPHABETIC: Addresses are inserted alphabetically
into the DATABASE file.

SET FONT SPACING MENU
EXPERIENCED USERS may change the spacing and placement
of the Return Address and Destination Address.
IF you have TROUBLE: don't worry,
just select: RESET ALL to DEFAULT, and everything
will go back to the way it was.

Enter Return or Destination addresses.
You can ENTER up to SIX lines for this address.

[ESC] key will accept Address as it appears right now.
The program will save and load these addresses
for you each time you run the program.

Select Number of COPIES to print:
Laser Printers can print 1-99 copies of any page.
Please edit the number in the COPIES window to your desired
number of copies of EACH ENVELOPE.
This number is reset to 1 COPY when you restart the program.

ENTER NEW DATABASE NAME
Please enter a NAME for your new DATABASE file.
NO spaces, periods, commas, wierd characters are allowed.
The program will add the characters '.DB' to the name
automatically, to tell LPE this is a DATABASE file.
MININUM 1 CHARACTER <-----> MAXIMUM 8 CHARACTERS.
EXAMPLES OF NAMES WHICH ARE OK:

ERROR: DOS cannot find the file you specified.
Either the file doesn't exist, or the spelling is wrong.
No wildcards are allowed in the filename.
The file MUST BE in the SAME DIRECTORY AS L.P.E.
Here is the type of name format which I expect:

ERROR: Your mailing list file is not in the proper format.
Mail List File Rules:
1 - Each Name/Address must be preceeded by at least 1
line which starts with a NON-ALPHA and NON-NUMERIC
character. ( `!@#$%^&*()"'?><\= ) are fine.
2 - The character you choose MUST be used all the
way through the file.
3 - You can have as many of these `comment' lines as you
want before each address.
4 - Don't make any addresses more than 6 lines long.
6 lines is my MAXIMUM.
5 - Don't put a `comment' line after the LAST address.
This is an example of a PROPER Mail List File.
* EACH COMMENT LINE MUST start with a character from the above list.
JOE SMITH
1234 MAPLE LANE
LOS ANGELES, CA 12345-6789
* The same character MUST ALWAYS be used THROUGHOUT THE FILE.
XYZ CORPORATION
345 West 27th STREET
NEW YORK, NEW YORK 23456-7890
* You can type ANYTHING you want on these '*' lines,
* AND have as many '*' lines BEFORE each ADDRESS.
* The program will not print these comment texts.
